As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt normal business operations, Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patriciah Gichohi has introduced a new system to keep litigants informed about their cases.
On May 11, 2020, the Chief Magistrate notified all litigants and advocates with pending hearings and mentions of civil and succession cases that the Courts were putting their house in order to ensure that they are served accordingly.
According to the notice, matters coming under certificate of urgency and time-bound pleadings would be filed online on a daily basis, displayed in a fortnight. A list would be posted showing pending judgments or rulings of civil and succession cases in respective court premises and the date of delivery, but not later than May 30, 2020.
Ms. Gichohi stated that several judgments and rulings were delivered online last week from May 4, 2020. The Chief Magistrate also alerted the parties that there would be a judicial officer and skeleton staff on duty each day to handle any urgent matters.
For those who prefer to communicate through email, the court's email address is [email protected]. Payments for court fees can be made through KCB-Kiambu Branch Act. No. 1197860460, or M-pesa services fees only Paybill No. 522537. The court code is 7325 followed by case number.
