Published on May 12, 2020, Huawei Mobile Kenya announced the upcoming launch of the Huawei Nova 7i, a mid-range smartphone that promises to bring Huawei's renowned midrange chops to the local market.
The device, which was announced globally in January, will be available in Kenya towards the end of May, making it the second device in Huawei's Nova smartphone series to be made available in the Kenyan market.
With sales of over 100 million units registered across the globe by last year, the Nova series has been one of Huawei's most successful. The Nova 7i brings a midrange chipset, the Kirin 810, which Huawei claims has noticeably better performance than the competing Snapdragon 730 from Qualcomm.
The device also features a distinctive quad camera with four lenses (a 48MP main camera, a 120° ultra-wide-angle lens, a portrait bokeh lens, and a 4cm macro lens) arranged in a 2 x 2 matrix, promising better optics.
Additionally, the Nova 7i boasts a 4,200mAh battery unit that supports 40W Huawei SuperCharge, allowing it to go from 0-70% in just half an hour.
Like the Huawei Y7p, the Nova 7i will arrive running Huawei Mobile Services, which means users will have to rely on Huawei's own alternative app store, AppGallery, and workarounds to get Google apps and services working.
When it launches, the device will be available countrywide through select stores as well as online through Jumia Kenya.
