On May 11, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded on Mombasa road when Kipchumba Murkomen, the majority leader in the Senate, was intercepted by DCI officers.
According to eyewitnesses, Murkomen was in one of his official government vehicles, accompanied by a security detail, when the officers stopped them and ordered everyone to alight.
The occupants were told that the cars and security detail now belonged to Senator Samuel Poghisio, leaving Murkomen and his personal driver stranded along the road.
