On May 11, 2020, Kenya reported 28 new cases of Covid-19, increasing the total number of cases to 700.

According to Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman, 12 more patients were discharged from hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 251.

However, the country also recorded one more death in Nairobi, raising the total fatalities from the virus to 23.

The new cases were reported in various counties, including Mombasa (10 cases), Kajiado (9 cases), Nairobi (7 cases), and Wajir (2 cases).

The nine cases from Kajiado were all Kenyan truck drivers who were returning from Tanzania and tested positive at the Namanga border.

Dr. Aman warned that the number of affected counties continues to rise, with 19 counties now affected out of the 47 in the country.

He urged Kenyans to report to nearby hospitals to seek assistance before their symptoms worsen, assuring them that health facilities are safe.

Tourism CS Najib Balala announced that the government will subsidize Covid-19 tests for businesses, with a cost of Ksh 1,000.

He also waived all charges for Covid-19 inspection and compliance permits to support the economy.
