On Monday, Moses Kuria, the outspoken Member of Parliament for Gatundu South, made a stunning revelation on his Facebook page, hinting that the Jubilee Party might have stolen votes in the last two general elections in Kenya.
Although Kuria is allied to Deputy President William Samoei Ruto, he surprisingly expressed his appreciation for Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, in a rare display of solidarity.
Referring to Raila's long-standing allegations of vote rigging since 2007, Kuria wrote,
“I have always been in denial that we didn’t steal the 2013 and 2017 elections. Today it’s almost clear. Congratulations belatedly Baba.”
Kuria's post came just days after President
Uhuru Kenyatta
made significant changes in Jubilee Party leadership, replacing Elgeiyo Marakwet Senator with KANU senator
Samuel Poghisio
and appointing Irungu Kang'ata as the new Chief Whip.
