On May 11, 2020, Gozem, a West African ride-hailing platform, announced the integration of Moov payments in Benin, enabling customers to pay using Moov Money and top up their wallets without cash.

The partnership with Moov Benin, provided by Etisalat Benin, offers Gozem users in Benin the simplicity and security of Moov Money, allowing them to pay for trips without cash.

“In addition to existing payment options offered in our app, Gozem users can now also benefit from the security and convenience of paying with Moov Money. We are proud to continually improve our service offering and work alongside Moov Benin to offer our customers more choice and convenience,” said Pierrick Houée, Country Manager Gozem Benin.

Since its launch in Togo in November 2018 and in Benin in July 2019, Gozem has recorded over 500,000 downloads on the Google Play Store. The platform is now available in several cities in Benin, including Calavi, Porto-Novo, Parakou, Abomey, and Bohicon.

Armed with nearly $1 million in funding, Gozem, founded by a Singapore-based Swiss entrepreneur, is backed by Reengine Ventures and is focused on West and Central Africa. The firm plans to launch in Gabon, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and Mali, and later expand into Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda to become Africa’s biggest transportation app.
