May 11, 2020, marks a day when many of us reflect on the loved ones we have lost. For celebrities, losing a sibling can be especially difficult, especially when it's a sudden and unexpected loss. In this article, we take a look at some Kenyan celebrities who have lost siblings in the past and the cause of their death.

One such celebrity is Yvonne Okwara, a Citizen TV reporter who lost her deafblind brother, Albert Okwara, after a 50-year battle with his disability. Yvonne took to social media to announce his passing, saying,

‘I’ve lost my beloved brother! A few years ago, I gained the courage to speak about his disability and our family’s long journey with him.

So many of you reached out to me and were kind and empathetic! I thank you.

My journey with Albert Okwara is now over, at least in this realm. He left us as peacefully and as quietly as he lived his entire life. My heart is broken, but my memories are full.

Goodbye my beloved Albert! Fly with the angels….💔💔

Another celebrity who has lost a sibling is Madtraxx, a Kenyan artiste who lost his sister, Dr. Njeri Muigai, in 2017. She was 8 months pregnant at the time of her death and neither she nor the baby survived. Madtraxx's brother, DJ Stylez, also lost his sister in the same incident.

Ben Cyco, a Kenyan gospel artiste, has also lost a sibling. His sister, Joy Wairuri, died after battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a type of blood cancer. She had made great strides in her recovery journey before her untimely death.

Jose Chameleone, a Ugandan artiste, lost his brother, AK47, in 2015. AK47 was pronounced dead at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala after falling in a nightspot's washrooms. Eric Omondi, a Kenyan comedian, also lost his brother, Joseph Omondi, in 2018. Joseph had been struggling with alcohol and drug addiction before his death.
