On May 11, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Ol Rongai, Rongai sub-county, where the body of 25-year-old Kipkemboi Tomno, an electrician, was found near African Inland Church Kabarnet Farm.

According to Deputy Police Commander Rongai Sub-County Shadrack Maru, a suspect presented himself to the Menengai Police Station, claiming to have killed Tomno. The suspect alleged that he had murdered Tomno due to an illicit affair with Tomno's wife, Doris Kairu.

Ms. Kairu revealed that her husband received several calls on Friday evening from a person claiming to have an electric problem, which her husband was asked to ignore. However, the following morning, the same person called again, prompting Tomno to go to the location, where he met his demise.

The suspect's motive, as reported by Maru, was that Tomno had an affair with his wife, which led to the tragic event.
