West Pokot County is reeling from the devastating effects of floods that have swept through the region, leaving families without food or shelter. The floods, which were triggered by torrential rainfall, have destroyed crops and property, causing widespread destruction and displacement.

According to West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo, who visited the affected area on Sunday, the floods have damaged 12 bridges and destroyed 24 foot bridges, leaving the community landlocked.

"We are completely landlocked," Governor Lonyangapuo said, emphasizing the need for emergency funds from the government to repair the damaged bridges and dykes.

Residents, who have been affected by the floods, are calling on the government to help them repair the dykes and provide assistance to those who have lost their livelihoods.

"Our farms have been completely washed away. Our livestock have been swept away by the water," said Mr. Gorge Topoti, a victim of the floods.
