Published on May 11, 2020, a former top strategy consultant revealed the harsh realities of his consulting life, which ultimately led him to quit his job and start his own business.

His life was a constant travel, with an SMS deciding his destination and client for the week. He was working for one of the top three global strategy consulting firms, earning a fancy salary, but at the cost of his personal life.

He recalled the day he called his parents to tell them he had quit his job, 'Dad, mom, I just quit my job. I want to start my own startup.' His mom was shocked, but he explained that he hated the consulting life, working long hours, and missing out on everything and everyone.

He shared that he would sleep only 3-4 hours a day, and his benefits were non-existent. He would stare at spreadsheets during business class flights and never had time to spend his salary. He felt like a loser, and he couldn't fake it anymore.

His parents, who had retired from their government jobs, were shocked by his decision, but he was determined to follow his business dream, even if it meant messing up his life.
