Published on May 11, 2020, a labor dispute has been brewing at Pramukh Cash and Curry in Kisumu, pitting workers against their employer, Mahesh Patel.
According to reports, a number of employees were recently fired without following the necessary labor laws. The Kisumu county labour officer, Charles Gondori, has summoned Patel to explain the situation.
Gondori emphasized that the law requires due process to be followed when terminating employees, as prescribed by labor law.
Meanwhile, the director of Kisumu town residents voice, Audi Ogada, has condemned Patel's actions, calling them a blatant disregard for labor laws.
Ogada, a former aide to Kisumu mayor Lawrence Oile, has petitioned Patel to address the workers' concerns, which include allegations of dishonesty, abuse of power, and breach of trust.
Patel has been given an ultimatum to comply with labor regulations or face legal action.
