Published on May 11, 2020, Nyandarua County has made a significant investment in road upgrade equipment worth Sh500 million.
According to Governor Francis Kimemia, the new equipment will benefit all five sub-counties in the county, namely Ndaragwa, Ol Jororok, Ol Kalou, Kipipiri, and Kinangop.
The county had previously been neglected in terms of infrastructure, leading to the need for this upgrade.
Kimemia noted that the heavy downpour experienced across the country had rendered some roads impassable, necessitating the repair of these roads.
“We have purchased road construction machines ranging from tippers, graders, excavators, rollers among others. Getting this new equipment means we have the capacity to execute various projects as planned unlike before when the county only owned one grader,” said the governor.
Furthermore, the purchase of equipment to mend feeder roads is complementing the work being done by the national government in tarmacking major roads.
Kimemia also emphasized that his administration will prioritize road maintenance, stating, “I will make sure that roads will not be a campaign strategy for anyone seeking elective posts come 2022.”
