On May 11, 2020, Kisii County Assembly members took a crucial step in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by approving a Sh164 million supplementary budget.
The Assembly members also decided to forego their allowances amounting to Sh32 million to support the county's efforts in battling the pandemic.
As part of the county's measures to contain the spread of the virus, a 300-bed quarantine centre has been established at the Kisii School.
Kisii Governor James Ongwae expressed concerns about the rising positive cases of coronavirus, emphasizing the need for a higher level of preparedness.
“As a county, we continue to take measures to beef up the Government efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus,” Governor Ongwae said.
Working closely with their counterparts in Migori and Homa Bay County, Governor Ongwae and County Commissioner Stephen Kihara are ensuring compliance with all Ministry of Health guidelines.
