On May 11, 2020, Kisii County Assembly members approved a Sh164 million Supplementary Budget to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of the efforts to contain the spread of the virus, the county officials have also done away with some of their allowances amounting to Sh32 million.

The county has established a 300-bed quarantine centre at the Kisii School to support the fight against the pandemic.

County Governor James Ongwae expressed concerns about the rising positive cases of coronavirus, emphasizing the need for a higher level of preparedness.

“As a county, we continue to take measures to beef up the Government efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus,” Governor Ongwae said.

He added that the county is working closely with counterparts in Migori and Homa Bay County to ensure compliance with Ministry of Health guidelines.
