On May 9, 2020, Turkish football clubs resumed training sessions in small groups, as per the guidelines set by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). League leaders, including Trabzonspor, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, and Besiktas, were among the clubs that held these sessions.
Besiktas, in a statement, revealed that one of their players and a staff member had tested positive for the coronavirus. The club assured that all players and coaching staff had been tested for the virus, and the affected individual had begun treatment.
Just a day prior, Fenerbahce announced that one of their staff members had tested positive for the virus, prompting the cancellation of a scheduled practice session.
The Turkish domestic soccer leagues are set to resume without fans on June 12, 2020, after a three-month suspension. TFF Chairman Nihat Ozdemir stated that the country is planning to host the Champions League final in late August.
