COVID-19 Update: 2 More Patients Succumb to Virus in Mombasa

On May 10, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 death toll rose to 32 after two patients succumbed to the virus in Mombasa.

The coastal city of Mombasa recorded 12 new cases out of the 23 confirmed cases in the country within a 24-hour period.

Of the 12 cases in Mombasa, 8 were reported in Mvita, 2 in Kisauni, and 2 in Likoni.

According to a statement, 'We have lost two other patients from Mombasa, this now brings to 32 the number of those who have succumbed to the disease.'

Additionally, 11 new cases were reported across Mandera (6), Nairobi (4), and Kajiado (1) counties.

The ages of the 23 patients, including a Burundian national, ranged from 1 to 80 years old.

Health officials also announced that 32 more patients have recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 239.

With this update, the total number of confirmed cases in Kenya now stands at 672, spread across 19 counties.
