Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Rise to 672

On May 10, 2020, the Ministry of Health announced that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Kenya had risen to 672, following the confirmation of 23 additional positive cases.

The number of recoveries also saw a significant increase, with 32 patients being discharged from the hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 239.

According to CAS Rashid Aman, 'Since our last update I’m pleased to inform you that today we have registered the highest number of people who have recovered from the disease; we have discharged 32 people from the hospital. This now brings to 239 the total number of recoveries.'

The 23 confirmed cases were identified from 1056 samples tested by health officials, with 22 of the cases being Kenyans and one being a Burundi national.

Of the 23 cases, 20 were picked up by surveillance teams, while three emerged from quarantine centers.

The cases are distributed across various counties, with 12 cases in Mombasa, 6 in Mandera, 4 in Nairobi, and 1 in Kajiado.

Two cases were reported in Umoja estate, one in Komarock and Pipeline estates in Nairobi, while in Mombasa, 2 cases were reported in Kisauni, 2 in Likoni, and 8 in Mvita.

In Mandera County, the cases were distributed as follows: Mandera East 3, Elwak 1, Mandera North 1, and Mandera West 1.

The single case in Kajiado County was reported from Saina estate.

The age range of the cases is between 1 year 9 months and 80 years, with 13 cases being male and 10 being female.

Unfortunately, two individuals have lost their lives to Covid-19, bringing the total fatalities to 32 in the country.
