President Uhuru Kenyatta has called an emergency meeting for all Jubilee leaders at State House on May 11, 2020, amidst growing party wrangles and allegations of a plot to oust the Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
The meeting comes at a time when Uhuru's loyalty to Raila Odinga is being questioned, following his exclusion from recent state events. Raila's allies have also launched a scathing attack on the President, calling for his resignation.
Junet Mohammed, a key ally of Raila, has been at the forefront of the attack against Uhuru, while Moses Kuria, a Jubilee MP, has claimed that there is a plot to kick out Tuju. Kuria, who had been missing in action for days, resurfaced on May 6, 2020, and revealed on his social media handles that the Tanga Tanga team was planning to oust Tuju.
According to Kuria, the ruling party will soon hold its elections, and he will become the new secretary-general. Uhuru's call for the meeting may be the first step in implementing this plan.
