Published on May 10, 2020, the Bundesliga season is set to resume on May 16, with the German Football League (DFL) confident that the restart will go ahead as planned.

However, a setback for Dynamo Dresden, who were ordered to self-isolate for 14 days after two new coronavirus cases were uncovered, has raised concerns about the safety of the players and staff.

DFL boss Christian Seifert downplayed the impact of the quarantine, saying, "It's not a reason to call the entire season into question."

Seifert acknowledged that the risk of further coronavirus cases was still present, but emphasized that the league was taking all necessary precautions to minimize the risk.

"It can reach a scale where it's not feasible anymore," he said. "It would depend on how much time there is left to finish the season."

The Bundesliga season is slated to end on June 30, and Seifert emphasized the importance of playing as many games as possible before then.

"A lot of player contracts are running out so we want to play as many games as possible before then," he said.
