Uganda Covid-19 Cases Rise to 116

On May 9, 2020, Uganda's Ministry of Health confirmed two new cases of coronavirus, bringing the country's total confirmed cases to 116.

The new cases were among 1,913 truck drivers whose samples were tested on Saturday. The two individuals who tested positive were a 40-year-old Kenyan truck driver and a 30-year-old Ugandan truck driver who arrived via Malaba and Mirama Hills point of entry, respectively.

According to the Ministry, efforts are underway to track the two individuals. In contrast, all 652 samples from members of the community tested negative for the virus.

As of May 9, 2020, the Ministry had tested a total of 56,767 samples, with 31 truckers who tested positive returning to their respective countries. The Health ministry also announced that 55 people have recovered from the virus.
