On May 10, 2020, leaders from Busia County, Kenya, emphasized the need for mass testing in the border county and other affected regions to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Busia County Woman Representative Florence Mutua led the call, highlighting the county's susceptibility to the virus due to its role as a gateway to the East African Community and the hinterland.

The leaders also urged the government to address the ongoing flood menace in the county, which they claimed could compromise efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

During a donation ceremony, Mutua presented walkthrough sanitizer booths to four sub-county hospitals in Busia County, as well as tanks, sanitizers, and face masks to local health centers.
