On May 10, 2020, the United Nations and Voice of America (VOA) recognized Embakasi East MP Babu Owino for his innovative approach to teaching students online amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of his efforts, the ODM legislator has been conducting revision lessons for the 2020 KCPE candidates, starting with mathematics and later moving on to Chemistry.

During his online classes, Babu Owino has surprised Kenyans with his deep knowledge of the subjects, showcasing his skills in teaching complex topics such as differentiation, calculus, integration, and trigonometry.

On Friday, the MP went live on his Facebook page at 2pm, tackling organic Chemistry and explaining the formation of various compounds on the board to the amusement of his followers.

According to UNICEF, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected millions of students in East and South Africa, with over 127 million pre-primary, primary, and secondary school children still at home due to the pandemic.
