As the country navigates the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Sports Culture and Heritage has launched a four-week free online acting and singing course for high school students. The course, which began on May 7, 2020, aims to provide students with basic acting and singing skills in preparation for intermediate courses.
The Nairobi Performing Arts Studio (NPAS) is offering two free courses for students in Forms 1-4, covering acting and singing skills. Each week, students can participate in one live online acting class and one live online singing class, with additional assignments to complete during the week.
NPAS will use the Google Meet app for online classes, and instructions on how to join will be provided after enrollment. Students will receive the time for their weekly class after enrolling in the course.
NPAS is a renowned performing arts academy behind critically-acclaimed stage productions such as 'Sarafina', 'Annie', 'Jesus Christ Super Star', and 'Grease'. Founded in 2016 by Stuart Nash, NPAS offers classes in drama, script writing, production, dance, and voice training from professional actors, choreographers, and musical directors.
Based at the Kenya National Theatre complex, NPAS is the only professional performing arts school in Kenya offering these four disciplines under one roof. The courses are taught by acclaimed professionals in the theatre, film, and TV industries.
