Two Kenyan Pilots Killed in Somalia Plane Crash Buried in Mombasa

On May 7, 2020, a plane carrying relief and medical supplies crashed in Bardale, Baidoa, Somalia, resulting in the deaths of two Kenyan pilots and four other people.

The bodies of Mabrouk Sherman, a flight officer, and Omar Jamal Chirgdin, a flight crew member, were transported to Mombasa on a private jet belonging to African Express, the company they were working for.

At around 7pm on Thursday, the bodies were buried at Kikowani and Aldina Visram cemeteries in Mombasa, with only a few family members and politicians in attendance.

Kenyan authorities and Somalia are jointly investigating the accident, with Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki calling for the government to expedite the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Senator Faki described the accident as 'abnormal', highlighting the need for a thorough investigation.
