On April 9, a tragic incident unfolded at White House within Tena Estate in Nairobi, leaving one person dead and another facing murder charges.

Susan Njeri Wachiuri, 25, is accused of stabbing her boyfriend Kelvin Njenga Ng'ang'a 11 times using a knife, allegedly over a dispute about washing utensils after supper.

The couple had been together for two years and had even celebrated Easter together just two days prior to the incident.

During a bond hearing at the Milimani High Court, Judge James Wakiaga was presented with the case, with the accused denying any involvement in the crime.

Ms Wachiuri pleaded for bail, citing Article 49 of the Constitution, which allows suspects to be admitted to bond.

However, the state prosecutor, Wangui Gichuhi, requested that the suspect file a formal application and written submissions in response to the prosecution's case.

The court set the hearing for May 14, to be conducted via Skype due to COVID-19 regulations, and ordered the application to be filed through the normal court process.
