On Friday, Uganda confirmed 13 new Covid-19 cases, including seven Kenyan truck drivers, after testing 2,421 samples.

The Ministry of Health in Uganda reported that the new cases comprised four Ugandans, two Tanzanians, and the seven Kenyan truck drivers.

Uganda's Ministry of Health has started tracking the truck drivers and will inform the public accordingly.

Out of 740 community samples taken, all tested negative for Covid-19.

Uganda's total Covid-19 cases now stand at 114, with 55 recoveries.

As part of measures to control the importation of Covid-19, the Ugandan government has been spraying all trucks entering the country and implementing mandatory testing of all truck drivers.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni argued against suspending the movement of truck drivers, citing their role in transporting essential commodities.

Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, had previously announced that all cross-border truck drivers would be re-tested for Covid-19 every 14 days.
