Kenya is currently experiencing a nationwide power outage that began in the early hours of Saturday, May 9th. The outage is attributed to a disturbance in the transmission network, according to a statement issued by Kenya Power.
At 5:49am, the power supply to the national grid was disrupted, leaving many without electricity. The cause of the system disturbance is yet to be established, but Kenya Power assures that their engineers are working to identify and address the issue.
“We have lost power supply in the national grid due to a system disturbance which occurred on our transmission network at 5:49am this morning,” said Kenya Power in a statement.
“Our engineers are working to identify the hitch and address the hitch towards restoring normal electricity supply,” the power company added.
The power company is set to issue a more detailed statement later in the day.
