BBC reporter Ciru Muriuki has undergone her third surgery for endometriosis, a condition that has left her in chronic pain for years.

According to her social media post, the first surgery was in December 2017, followed by another in October 2018, and the latest one on Monday.

She shared a powerful message, stating, 'The ugly reality of endometriosis, I have had three surgeries. I always live with chronic pain and am always on painkillers, This is no way to live.'

Ciru also highlighted the need for a cure, saying, 'A lot of doctors dismiss women's pain, we are told we are dramatic or that we are exaggerating. We need a cure.'

She is not alone in her struggle, as fellow celebrity Jahmby Koikai, also known as Fahya Mama, has been battling endometriosis for over 15 years.
