Forward Davis Wanangwe will miss the sibling rivalry he had with his brother Frank in the men's Premier League, but he vows that it will return soon.
Wanangwe, 29, has competed against his elder brother Frank, 33, in top-flight hockey since 2012, when he joined Sikh Union from Strathmore University.
"There is that feeling and excitement that comes with playing against your brother. And the hype that was created by the media was also something special," Wanangwe said.
However, Sikh Union's relegation to the Super League last season has put an end to the sibling rivalry for now. But Wanangwe remains optimistic that the team will make a comeback to the Premier League next season.
Wanangwe has been dealing with a nagging knee injury since 2014, which has seen him miss out on international assignments, including the Olympic qualifiers in South Africa.
He suffered a cartilage injury on his left knee and underwent surgery in 2018. Despite the setbacks, Wanangwe remains hopeful of making a comeback and is ready to assist the national team as a striker coach.
