May 8, 2020 - Milan, Italy - Italian football giants Inter Milan and AC Milan have resumed training after a two-month lockdown in the coronavirus epicentre of Milan, Italy.
Inter Milan's players, including Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku, returned to individual training on Friday, May 8, after all staff members tested negative for the coronavirus.
Players arrived at the team's Appiano Gentile training centre, 35km northwest of Milan, wearing face masks and some in gloves, with temperatures taken on arrival to respect social distancing rules.
AC Milan resumed training earlier in the week, with club technical director Paolo Maldini warning that not resuming play would be a disaster.
Italy's outbreak has resulted in over 15,000 deaths in the city of Milan, with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) meeting with the government's technical scientific committee to discuss a medical protocol for a return to group training.
Italian Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora expressed hope that group training could resume on May 18, but behind closed doors.
