Kenya has confirmed 14 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of people infected to 621. The new cases were reported in Mombasa, Nairobi, and Machakos counties.

According to the Health Ministry, the 14 new patients were confirmed after 922 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The cases were reported in various locations, including Likoni in Mombasa, Athi River in Machakos, and Kasarani, Makadara, and South C in Nairobi.

Out of the new patients, 13 were randomly picked by the Ministry of Health's surveillance team while one case was reported from a quarantine unit. The Ministry has tested 29,430 samples with 202 recoveries since the first case was confirmed on March 13.

However, many Kenyans have raised concerns that the ongoing heavy downpour is limiting the efforts by citizens to maintain social distance, particularly for the displaced group. The Health Ministry has acknowledged the challenge and is working with county governments to educate people on measures to mitigate COVID-19.

Additionally, KDRTV has received reports that 34 health workers have contracted the deadly virus, despite the government's efforts to protect them. The Ministry has stated that health workers have done well even when they have tested positive, with no mortality reported so far.
