Real Madrid's Luka Jovic, a 22-year-old Serbia international, has suffered a fracture to his right heel, the club announced on Friday, May 8, 2020.

The injury was diagnosed during tests at the club's medical centre, but the expected duration of Jovic's absence from action remains unclear.

According to Spanish media, Jovic picked up the injury while training at home shortly after returning to Spain from his home country at the start of the week.

His decision to leave for Serbia in March, while Real Madrid were in quarantine due to a coronavirus outbreak, had sparked controversy.

However, Jovic later explained that his coronavirus test had been negative.

He joined Real Madrid last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported fee of 60 million euros ($65.1 million).

Before the season was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jovic had played 22 times for the capital city club in all competitions, scoring twice.
