Heavy rains have been pounding Narok County for over a week, causing devastating mudslides that have left a trail of destruction in their wake.
At least 200 households in Ntuka village, Keyan ward, Tramsmara Sub-County, have been displaced, with the affected land causing a 400-metre valley after a 1-kilometre crack led to a massive land movement.
The displaced families have been evacuated to Empash Primary School, but they face significant challenges in adhering to social distancing rules aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19.
Residents of the affected area have appealed to the government and their leaders to expedite efforts to provide them with essential personal items.
Narok County's area MCA, Mark Mukuti, advised residents to move to safer areas to avoid fatalities. He also assured that donations would be made available to the afflicted households through the county's department of Disaster Management.
