As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, many major events have been postponed or cancelled to prevent the spread of the virus.

One of the earliest events to be affected was the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, which was rescheduled to take place 'beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021', according to the International Olympic Committee.

Several other sporting events have also been impacted, including the NBA, major football leagues across Europe, and the City marathon races.

On the cultural front, events such as the Koroga festival in Kenya, Coachela valley music and arts festival, Annual Met Gala, Cannes film festival, and Eurovision song contest have been cancelled or postponed.

Locally, the annual #KOT5Aside football tourney in Kenya was postponed, as was the Chapa dimba na Safaricom, KPL, and other events.

These cancellations and postponements are a testament to the far-reaching impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global events.
