On May 8, 2020, City Football Group (CFG) made a significant announcement, stating that Uruguay will be home to their fourth major training ground.

The new facility, set to be completed by 2021, will serve as the home base for Montevideo City Torque's first team, youth teams, club staff, and community foundation projects.

CFG's chief executive, Ferran Soriano, expressed pride in reaffirming the company's investment and long-term commitment to Uruguay through the construction of a City Football Academy.

"Despite the moment of global uncertainty in which we live, we are proud to reaffirm our investment and long-term commitment to Uruguay through the construction of a City Football Academy, which will join the other three facilities in Manchester, Melbourne, and New York," Soriano said.

The new training ground is part of CFG's efforts to promote the training and development of young talent in both Uruguayan football and the rest of the South American continent.
