On May 7, 2020, Kenya's COVID-19 death toll rose to 29 after three more people succumbed to the virus over a 24-hour period, according to the Ministry of Health.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman announced the latest fatalities, stating that the three individuals died while undergoing treatment in different facilities.

"Two of the deceased were from Nairobi, while one was from Mombasa," Aman said.

With the rising number of infections, which stood at 607 after 25 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, Aman urged Kenyans to continue observing the laid-down guidelines to flatten the infection curve and prevent further virus-linked deaths.

He noted that out of the 25 new cases, Eastleigh in Nairobi, which is under lockdown, produced the highest number at nine.

The new cases were spread across Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Wajir, and Isiolo counties, with Isiolo being the latest addition to the list of counties that have reported COVID-19 infections.

As of May 7, 2020, 18 out of the 47 counties in Kenya had recorded coronavirus cases.

Seven patients were also discharged on May 7, 2020, after recovering from COVID-19, raising the number of people discharged from hospital to 197.
