Published on May 7, 2020, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has announced that police are on the lookout for a family of five who have gone into hiding after testing positive for Coronavirus in Old Town, Mombasa.
According to Joho, the five individuals were among sixty-five people who were tested during mass testing in the county. Instead of seeking medical help, they allegedly fled with the rest of their family, posing a threat to unsuspecting relatives.
“Instead of these five who were tested positive coming to our facilities to get help they chose to run away. This is unheard of yet we have a government and the county government at their disposal to assist them,” Joho said.
The governor has called upon Mombasa residents to take charge of their health and seek help from hospitals when confirmed to have the virus. Old Town is now a high-risk area following the surge in Coronavirus cases reported from the area.
Yesterday, the government locked down Nairobi's Eastleigh and Mombasa's Old Town for a period of 15 days. Eastleigh now has 77 confirmed cases, making it the area with the most infections in Kenya, while Old Town, Mombasa, has 57 cases.
