As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to disrupt normal learning in schools, the government has announced that it will not consider stopping e-learning offered by verified platforms to students.
Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha made the announcement on Thursday while appearing before the National Assembly Education and Research Committee in parliament.
Prof Magoha emphasized that parents who are able to afford virtual learning for their children should do so, as the government will not intervene in this matter.
However, he assured that when schools reopen, the syllabus will start where the student left it, ensuring that no child is disadvantaged due to lack of access to virtual lessons.
Regarding the charging of online lessons offered by teachers, Prof Magoha suggested that parents and teachers should engage in a dialogue to agree on favourable terms.
On the official opening date for schools, the CS stated that a decision has not yet been reached.
