Kenya Confirms 25 New Covid-19 Cases Amid Rising Infections

On May 7, 2020, Kenya confirmed 25 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 607, with 18 counties affected.

According to Dr. Rashid Aman, the Health Chief Administrative Secretary, the positive cases are from 632 samples tested within the last 24 hours.

The cases include 22 Kenyans, one Ugandan, one Tanzanian, and a Chinese national, with 21 males and four females.

The highest number of cases is in Nairobi, with 17 cases, followed by Wajir, Kajiado, Mombasa, Isiolo, Migori, and Nakuru.

Eastleigh leads in the number of Nairobi infections with 9 new cases, while the rest are spread in different estates.

Dr. Aman appealed to the residents in Nairobi's Eastleigh Estate and Mombasa's Old Town to adhere to the stringent measures put in place to curb the rising numbers of people testing positive.

He also reported seven new recoveries and discharges, bringing the total to 197, and three more patients succumbed, bringing the total fatalities to 29.
