On May 7, 2020, Nicole Joy Berry, a woman linked to Tanzanian singer Harmonize, shared a disturbing account of her experience at Julius Nyerere Airport in Tanzania.
According to Nicole, she was detained for over 30 minutes and subjected to a humiliating ordeal after being suspected of carrying drugs.
She revealed that she was made to squat 30 times and was stripped of her clothes, leaving her feeling embarrassed and humiliated.
‘The only thing I am afraid of is FAME!!! Nigga recognised me from somewhere and boom 💣, I went through hell at the airport of Mwalimu JK Nyerere today and I will always remember the embarrassment, man!,’ Nicole wrote on social media.
Her experience is not an isolated incident, as several Tanzanian socialites and celebrities have been linked to drug trafficking, including Wema Sepetu and the late Agnes Masogange.
One such individual is Sandra Khan, a video vixen who spent seven years in a Chinese prison for drug trafficking before returning to Tanzania in January this year.
Speaking about her experience, Sandra shared that being in prison was difficult due to the distance from home and the unfamiliar environment.
However, her time in prison had a profound impact on her life, and she now wants to help young people who have turned to drug trafficking for quick money.
‘I’d love to go to churches and prisons just to talk to the people since I’ve experienced being in jail in a different country. To encourage and advise them,’ Sandra said.
