Kenya Reports 25 New COVID-19 Cases, Eastleigh Leads in Infections

On May 7, 2020, Kenya confirmed 25 new cases of the coronavirus in tests conducted in the past 24 hours.

Eastleigh, a locked-down area in Nairobi, recorded the highest new infections, accounting for nine of the 17 cases reported in the city.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Rashid Aman noted that the new cases were confirmed after testing 632 samples.

According to Dr Aman, 22 of the new COVID-19 patients are Kenyans, with the rest being one Ugandan, one Chinese, and a Tanzanian national.

Kenya's total virus recoveries now stand at 197, while fatalities stood at 29 after three more people succumbed to the deadly novel disease.

Isiolo county became the latest county to report positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of affected counties to 18.
