Nanny and Housekeeper: What's the Difference? ¶
When it comes to childcare and household help, many people use the terms 'nanny' and 'housekeeper' interchangeably. However, these roles are distinct and require different skills and responsibilities.
According to a Standard Epaper article published on May 7, 2020, a nanny's role is more involved than a babysitter's, providing long-term regular care and establishing a relationship with the kids.
Nannies are employed to look after children in their own homes, working closely with parents as part of the children's caregiving team. In some cases, nannies are trained in childcare and play a vital role in the growth and development of children.
On the other hand, housekeepers, also known as maids or house helps, are responsible for domestic chores, including cleaning and cooking. They may also be tasked with ensuring there is enough food for meals and carrying out errands.
While housekeepers may interact with children in the household, their primary responsibility is not childcare. Choosing the right person for the job depends on your needs, whether you require someone responsible for the care of your children or someone to help with running your household.
