When celebrities post on social media, their comment sections often attract a diverse range of followers. In this article, we'll explore five distinct types of followers you might encounter on your favorite celebrities' pages.
Our case study accounts are Diamond Platnumz and Akothee, two popular Tanzanian and Kenyan celebrities. After analyzing their comment sections, we identified the following five types of followers:
1. Advertisers/Entrepreneurs ¶
These followers wait for a post to gain traction before promoting their businesses. They often post every 10 minutes on the same post, regardless of relevance. Examples include:

2. 'Follow me I follow back' battalion ¶
These followers take advantage of any celebrity post to seek followers. They use clever lines to lure people into following them. An example is:
I am Akothee's fan please follow me
3. Haters ¶
These followers look for any reason to hate on the comment section. They often do this to gain followers or likes. Examples include:
Wacha utoto na wewe ni mtu mzima
Hiyo trouser yako ni tent sanaa
4. Job/Help seekers ¶
Some followers follow their favorite celebrities to seek opportunities for a better tomorrow. They openly ask for jobs and even post their curriculum vitae. An example is:
Please madam I need a job pliz help me any kind of job I will do
5. Legit fans ¶
These followers are genuine fans who adore their favorite celebrities. They're always full of praise and positive vibes on the comment section. Examples include:
Wow I really like your energy you are my role model. Love you
You are a blessing to our country
