Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has been at the center of a transfer controversy after FIFA announced an investigation into his move from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United.

According to FIFA, the investigation was sparked by a complaint from Italian club Sampdoria, which claimed that Sporting Lisbon breached a 10% sell-on clause when they sold Fernandes in 2017.

However, Sporting Lisbon disputes this claim, stating that the clause is null and void due to Fernandes signing a new contract in June 2018 after terminating the original one.

On April 3, Sampdoria lodged a claim with FIFA against Sporting Lisbon, citing financial obligations related to Fernandes' transfer.

As part of the investigation, FIFA will examine the circumstances surrounding Fernandes' transfer, including the role of Sampdoria and Sporting Lisbon.
