On May 7, 2020, a public outcry erupted over the detention of gospel artist Eko Dydda, who was arrested and held in a government facility for 72 hours under the guise of quarantine.
According to reports, Eko's car had developed mechanical issues, causing him to miss the 7pm curfew. His wife, however, was instrumental in rallying support for his release, with activists, celebrities, and Kenyans joining forces to call for his freedom.
Weeks later, Eko Dydda decided to express his gratitude to his wife, posting a photo of the two of them in matching sweatpants on social media.
Alongside the photo, Eko wrote, 'When you know you have a queen, who got your back in all combats. I got your back too my queen.'
