On May 7, 2020, Huawei officially listed the Y8s on its website in Jordan, marking the device's official launch. The phone boasts a dual-camera setup at the back, featuring a 48 MP main sensor, and dual AI selfie cameras that enhance portrait photography.

The Y8s runs on Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1 and features a 6.5-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) TFT LCD display. It is powered by the Kirin 710 octa-core processor paired with Mali G51-MP4 GPU and 4GB RAM.
The device comes in two storage options: 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage, with an additional 512 GB expandable storage via Micro-USD port.
The Y8s features a vertically aligned dual camera setup at the back, with a 48-megapixel main camera and a secondary 2-megapixel camera. On the front, there are two selfie cameras with an 8-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor.
The phone is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery and supports connectivity options like 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and more.
The Y8s also features a rear fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, compass, proximity sensor, gravity sensor, and a nano-textured back cover with a sophisticated multilayered coating process.
