As we spend more time indoors due to the current restrictions on travel and work-from-home arrangements, it's essential to find ways to bring the outdoors into our homes. According to interior designer MaryMayah Kang'ara, adding nature to our space can introduce tranquility and create an outside feel.

One way to achieve this is by incorporating plants into your home. Kang'ara recommends choosing live plants or artificial ones, such as sunflowers, which can add a pop of color and life to a room. She also suggests placing plants on window sills or kitchen counters to make the most of the space.

However, Kang'ara warns against keeping too many plants indoors, as this can affect air circulation. Instead, she recommends placing plants close to windows to maximize the benefits of natural light.

Another way to bring the outdoors in is by incorporating natural textures and elements into your home. Kang'ara suggests using artificial grass carpet, treated wood, and stone to create a natural feel. You can also add baskets, pots, and other creative objects made of natural elements to give your home a warm and earthy feel.

Lighting is also crucial in creating an outdoor feel. Kang'ara recommends opening windows to let in natural light and using light fabric curtains and wall colors that allow light to bounce off into the room.

Finally, Kang'ara suggests heightening your senses with outdoor elements, such as floral pot pourri, which can stimulate or soothe the senses. You can also use colors inspired by nature, such as green, blue, and yellow, to add life and warmth to your space.
