As COVID-19 cases surged in Mombasa County, the Old Town area became a key hotspot. In response, the county implemented strict measures to contain the spread of the virus.

According to reports, no one was allowed to enter or exit the Old Town area, effectively locking down the community. This drastic measure was taken to prevent the further spread of the virus.
