Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Rise to 582 as 47 New Infections Reported

On May 6, 2020, Kenya's Covid-19 cases jumped to 582 after 47 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that eight more people had been discharged after recovering from coronavirus, bringing the total number of discharged patients to 19.

However, Kagwe revealed that two more patients had succumbed to the virus at their home in Mombasa, raising the total fatalities in the country to 26.

“Two more people aged 68 and 76 have passed on in Mombasa while at home, bringing the total number of deaths to 26,” said Kagwe.

Of the new infections, 32 were reported in Mombasa, with 11 cases in Nairobi, two in Busia, and one case each in Kiambu and Kwale.

The confirmed cases in Mombasa were mainly in Old Town, which recorded 18 cases as the government stepped up mass testing.

Among the new virus patients, 31 were male and 16 were female.
