At least 194 people have lost their lives in the recent heavy rains and flooding that have ravaged the country.

According to the government, the worst-hit areas include Garissa and Tana River counties, where Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i has ordered the forced relocation of those at risk to safer grounds.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that the situation is unlikely to improve soon, with more heavy rains expected this weekend in Central, Coast, Rift Valley, and Western regions.

Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to move to safer grounds, particularly with the worrying levels reached in Masinga and Turkwel dams, which are threatening to overflow.
